Slot Machine News
I wish there was one definitive slot machine news website online, but I haven't found one of the slots news feed sites that I can recommend without qualification. If you want the latest slots news and updates without sifting through a bunch of non-gambling related news items, I suggest you use one of two different online addresses to target your slots-related searches: Google News and Topix.

Google News - Slot Machine Searches
Searching Google News for slot machine information is one of your best options. Google News compiles a sizable daily repository of news items from around the globe, but their news feed is designed to make it easy for users to find exactly the type of news and news sources they want. Finding slots industry information is easy using the search functions on GNews.
Once you get to the Google News Homepage, go to the search bar at the top of the page. Type in "slot machines", remembering to put the words in quotation marks, so the internal search engine searching specifically for every mention of slot machines in Google News (chronologically, starting today and working back). If you don't, you'll end up getting lots of articles about "slots" in soccer tournaments and basketball tournaments, and will have to sift through those stories to find the gambling news.
When I made my search, here were the top ten news items that came up. Most of these news stories were from that very day, though a couple went back a couple of days and one was from 4 days ago, which should give you an idea how often Google gets slots news they find important. Here are the news story titles.
Slot Machine News Stories - Google News
- Gaming Industry Hoping to Ease Slot Machine Limits (Ohio, Pennsylvania)
- Virtual Slot Machines Not Banned, For Now (Orlando, Florida)
- Strange Targets Bingo - Story about National Indian Gaming Commission (Alabama)
- E-Bingo Machines Confiscated and Removed State-Wide (Alabama)
- Goodbye Bingo Machine (Alabama)
- Bingo Machines on Their Way Out (Alabama)
- Poll: Texans Want Slot Machines (82%)
- MGM Grand Slots to Get New Promotional Software (Connecticut and Foxwoods Casino)
- $1 Million Worth of Slot Machines to Be Destroyed in Kimberly (Alabama)
- Hearings Held on Worchester Fraternal Slots Bills (Maryland)
So in one search for slot machine news, you turn up news from 8
different states. You find out that 82% of Texans think they should be
able to decide whether slot machines go into the racetracks, while
Alabama's state authorities really hate the bingo machines and slot
machines. Florida hasn't decided whether it wants to get slot machines
out of Orlando, while Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland inch towards
greater slots opportunities for citizens.
The cluster of bingo articles from Alabama throw off the numbers somewhat, because Google sometimes clusters articles together like that (there were 50+ related articles offered on a separate link). You might wonder why the bingo machine destruction turns up on slot machine news, but the later story about Alabama going after slot machines (too) shows that they two are being lumped together in Alabama's purge. In all, you get a broad overview of the state of slots in America, on the day and in the week that you perform your Google News search.
Slot Machine News on Topix
Another good source of news stories is Topix, another online news
aggregator similar to Google News. Topix lets you pick an area of the
country and see news stories from that area. Like Google News, Topix
also lets you search by news topics, so you can make searches for slot
machine information, simply by putting "slot machine" into the Topix
search engine on their homepage.
Though the news items start with your local area, you'll notice quickly that I get news items from all over North America (Vancouver, for example), though my area is Dallas, Texas. Once again, here are the Top 10 slot industry news stories of the day.
- Country Crossing Developer Ronnie Gilley Seeks Release from Jail (Mississippi)
- Vancouver Public Hearing on B.C. Place Casino (British Columbia)
- AG Strange Announces Removal of "Bingo" Machines (Alabama)
- Nevada Floating Cuts for Gambling Addicts
- Mohegan Sun's New Boss (Jeffrey Hartmann) Embracing Role (Connecticut)
- "Slots for Kids" Would Be a Sure Bet for Those Debating Massachusetts Casinos (Mass)
- Hedging their Bets (Ohio)
- Cutting Help for Addicted Gamblers (Nevada)
- Abbotsford Considering More Slots and Liquor Licence at Gaming Centre (British Columbia)
- Gilbert: Tax Loss Worry "Premature" (Cincinnati, Ohio)
As you can see, there's a little bit of overlap between the slots news in both sources, but not much.
Meanwhile, you get information on slot industry happenings in 5 other U.S. states and two news stories on two different topics in 1 Canadian province. Spend the time on Google News and Topix, and you walk away with a pretty good idea what the slot machine news of the day is.
